Awards and Recognition
Daisy Award
First recipient
NWH recently awarded Olivia Hamill, RN, an Operating Room nurse, its first-ever DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. Hamill was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient she cared for who had experienced a devastating miscarriage. This patient wrote that Hamill made her feel safe and secure and was a bright light on a dark day.
Newton-Wellesley Hospital is proud to join hospitals around the world in recognizing nurses who make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Florence Nightingale Award
This award was established for the RN who invests her/himself in creating an environment that fosters the professional development and growth of existing and future nursing professionals.
Sheila Sullivan Award
The Sheila Sullivan Award was established to recognize an outstanding nurse or nurse case manager who delivers compassionate care to patients and serves as an inspiration to others. The award is to be used for educational opportunities.
Clinical Excellence in Nursing
The Newton-Wellesley Hospital Clinical Excellence in Nursing Award was established to recognize individuals who consistently exemplify the highest standards of professional nursing practice.
Care First Awards
The CARE First awards are designed to recognize individuals who exemplify one or more of our CARE First Standards of Excellence (Compassion, Attitude, Responsibility and Excellence) in their work at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
