Personalized treatment plans
Mass General Cancer Center at Newton-Wellesley brings together a team of experts in medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology from Mass General Cancer Center and Newton-Wellesley Hospital to provide our patients with superior cancer treatment. You’ll be able to schedule appointments right in Newton throughout the cancer diagnosis and treatment process. As part of our partnership with Mass General Cancer Care, our patients have access to advanced technology and the latest clinical research.
Support Throughout Cancer Treatment and Beyond
We understand that complete cancer care includes more than just treating your disease. That’s why we offer a full line of programs and services that address your unique needs as you progress on your cancer journey.
Survivorship Care
Our survivorship care programs include services that complement your cancer treatment:
- Cancer nutrition services, in which our registered dietitian helps optimize your diet based on your nutritional needs, the stage of your cancer and your treatment plan
- Hope Walks, our annual neighborhood walk to benefit cancer patients
- Massage and meditation services to reduce stress, promote healing and improve emotional health
In addition, we offer a number of resources for patients and families to support you and your loved ones during this difficult time in your lives. These resources include:
- Our Cancer Genetics Program, which can help you identify how altered genes passed down through your family can affect your own cancer risk and that of your loved ones
- Support groups to share your story and gain strength from others who understand what you’re going through
- Special programs to address particular needs or challenges that arise as a result of cancer diagnosis or treatment
- The Pappas PACT (Parenting At a Challenging Time) Program, which helps parents undergoing cancer treatment address the impact their diagnosis and care can have on their children
Support Groups
Support groups are designed so attendees can gain support through discussing their experience and connecting with others. Our groups help patients, who come to us from throughout the Greater Boston area, to cope with their diagnosis and make meaning of this illness in their lives.
Writing the road to wellness
An expressive writing support group for Mass General Cancer Center patients and survivors.
This virtual group will combine the therapeutic benefits of expressive writing within a support group setting. Cancer patients and survivors will be given the opportunity to connect with others and practice different expressive writing techniques to help enhance cognitive processing, reduce stress, and make meaning of your story.
- Starting in January 2024, spanning the over the course of 8 weeks.
- This group will meet virtually on Zoom.
