What to expect
Prepare for your appointment
- Obtain copies of your previous diagnostic tests (e.g. endoscopy)
- Complete a quality of life questionnaire where you can report your symptoms, dietary triggers, and medication history before you step in the room.
During your initial visit
- Meet with the team (physician, physician assistant, nurse, dietitian)
- Review your questionnaire and any previous testing
- Discuss your questions and/or concerns
- Develop a tailored plan (e.g. medication and dietary changes) and schedule diagnostic testing if needed for more comprehensive evaluation
- If surgery is discussed, then scheduling occurs after necessary testing is completed
Diagnostic testing
In order to appropriately evaluate your symptoms, we may perform the following tests:
- Endoscopy
- Ambulatory (blue-tooth enabled) pH monitoring
- A manometry high-resolution swallow test
- Barium X-ray
If you have had these tests recently and we have obtained your records, then it is unlikely we would need to repeat them.
