Visitor Information

We welcome loved ones who would like to visit new mothers and babies. However, we do have policies in place that are designed to promote the good health and well-being of our patients. Please make sure your loved ones review these policies before they visit.

Directions and parking

Visiting hours:

  • Partners of new mothers are welcome to stay with them in the hospital 24 hours a day.
  • Two visitors at a time may visit patients in the Mother/Baby unt
  • Visiting hours are between 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Babies stay in their mother’s room if their delivery is uncomplicated and the newborn is stable during the immediate recovery period after birth. Family members should not visit until at least two hours after the baby is born. New parents need time to rest and learn to care for their new baby. We suggest that only close family members visit for limited periods. Please ask your visitors to wash their hands before holding your baby.

Quiet Time

Our maternity unit has a break in visiting hours called Quiet Time. These quiet hours are seven days a week from 2 to 4 p.m. Please ask tell your visitors to visitcome  before or after this period. The only interruptions at the bedside during these hours are for essential patient care.

Quiet Time gives you the rest and privacy you need and deserve during your hospital stay. In addition, Quiet Time helps you get more bonding time with your child and allow you to become familiar with your baby’s feeding cues.

Infant Security

We’ll place birth identification bands on you and your baby immediately after birth. These are used  to keep your baby safe and secure in the hospital. Never leave your baby unattended, and never let anyone take your newborn away from your room unless they’re wearing a hospital ID.

Maternity Unit is on the 5th floor

Maternity is located on the fifth floor of the main hospital building.

Both the East or West Entrance off Washington Street/Route 16 can be used when you arrive. Park and go in through the main entrance or the Surgical Center entrance, and follow the signs to the main lobby. The West Elevators are located just off the main lobby of the Hospital. Take the West Elevators to the fifth floor.

Parking

There is a daily fee for parking in the hospital garage. We also offer discounted multiple-day parking passes for patients and visitors. You can buy passes at the gift shop and the parking desk, located just off the West Lobby or at any of our parking booths. A weekly pass costs $35 and provides unlimited parking for seven consecutive days.

Welcome Newborn

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is pleased to offer our patients the opportunity to announce a new baby to friends and family over the Internet – right from the hospital!

The hospital now offers parents professional newborn photography:

  • A complimentary photo session will take place right in your hospital room.
  • We request that all photos are scheduled PRIOR to the day of discharge
  • The photographer will stop by your room to schedule your 20-minute photo session.
  • Our experienced portrait photographers will capture the love and joy your new baby brings.
  • Several poses will be photographed and you will be able to choose your favorites.
  • Choose from a wide variety of photo packages, digital images, birth announcements and photo keepsakes.
