Our dietitians provide nutrition counseling for patients at the Cancer Center and patients at the Cardiovascular Center. Pediatric nutrition counseling is also available.
Patients who have Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes , pre-diabetes or gestational diabetes will benefit from our nutrition counseling services. Along with diabetes management and outpatient nutritional services, we offer diabetes management classes and a diabetes support group.

We provide adult nutrition counseling on an outpatient basis for patients with the following concerns and conditions:

Our clinic is located on the third floor of Newton-Wellesley Hospital on 3 South. Follow the signs to the south elevators, and take them to the third floor. Follow the signs for Diabetes/Nutrition. The clinic is in the corridor to the left of the south elevators.

Pediatric Nutrition Counseling
We see young patients from infancy to age 25 who have been referred by their pediatricians. Our registered dietitians counsel parents, children, and young adults with personalized nutrition information to fit a number of needs, such as:
- Celiac disease
- Eating disorders
- Enteral nutrition (tube feeding) and parenteral nutrition (intravenous feeding)
- Failure to thrive/poor weight gain
- Food allergies
- Former premature infants
- Hyperlipidemia
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other GI disorders
- Pre-diabetes
- Weight management

Make a pediatric nutrition counseling appointment
- Make sure your pediatrician’s office enters an electronic referral or faxes a written order form to Central Scheduling at 617-243-6776
- Doctors’ orders should specify the medical diagnosis that requires pediatric nutrition counseling
- Allow 24 hours for processing of your doctor’s orders before calling Central Scheduling at 617-243-6800 to make your appointment

Before Your Appointment
Many health insurance plans cover nutrition visits related to medical problems. We encourage you to call your insurance carrier directly before your pediatric nutrition counseling appointment to make sure your visit is covered.
Please plan on arriving 10 minutes before your child’s scheduled appointment. If you can’t keep your child’s appointment, we would appreciate it if you would cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours’ notice.
